AES 2026 Conference
The Audio Engineering Society (AES) 6th International Automotive Audio Conference will take place July 29th through 31st at Huntington Place in Detroit, Michigan, bringing researchers, industry engineers, and audio practitioners together to explore the future of immersive sound within vehicles.
With car audio's massive global footprint making it's way into multiple audiophile shows during 2026, Enjoy the Music.com's Creative Director Steven R. Rochlin is perhaps the only audiophile publication with years of IASCA installation and sound quality judging experience.
The AES conference is organized around the theme Automotive Audio in the AI Era (Sounds of future cars) and promises technical papers, keynote sessions, demonstrations, and workshops that highlight how audio is evolving alongside electrification, autonomy, new ownership, and lossless music streaming models.
Conference organizers are soliciting technical contributions across two submission tracks: Category 1 full papers (complete manuscripts) and Category 2 express papers (extended summaries), with both categories sharing a submission deadline of March 17th.
Authors of full papers will be notified of acceptance by May 4, and final manuscripts are due June 22; accepted work will be peer reviewed and included in the conference program.
Topics span AI and machine learning, system architecture, sound reproduction and tuning, active sound management, spatial audio, and evaluation methods. The program also invites proposals for workshops, tutorials, and panel discussions to complement paper sessions with practical, in-depth presentations led by experts.
Accepted papers will be published in the AES E-Library shortly before the conference, and the organizers note that at least one author on each accepted paper must register for the conference for the paper to appear in the proceedings; student authors who are AES student members will be eligible for a Student Paper Award.
Open access options and author templates are available through the AES submission system. Exhibit opportunities are open as the event positions itself as a focal point for automotive immersive audio innovation, from in-cabin personalization and seat-centric audio zones to acoustic vehicle alerting systems and AI-powered sound design. With demonstrations, technical sessions, and industry participation expected, the conference aims to map current research to real-world vehicle applications and to foster collaboration between OEMs, suppliers, and academic researchers.
